Elnett Hairspray in Lebanon: Which Hold Level and Size You Actually Need

Elnett is the hairspray most Lebanese households already know by the gold can. What confuses people at the shelf is the naming: Satin, Supreme Hold, Super Hold, Strong Hold, Extra Strong Hold, Very Volume — five or six variants that all look nearly identical and sit at almost the same price.

Here is how to choose without guessing.

What the hold levels mean in practice

Hold is a trade-off. More hold means more grip and less movement; less hold means natural movement but a style that drops sooner. Neither is "better" — it depends on what you are doing with your hair.

  • Satin / normal hold — the softest option. Hair still moves and still feels like hair. This is the everyday choice for a blow-dry you want to look natural, and the safest pick for fine hair that goes stiff easily.
  • Strong hold — the middle ground and the one most people actually want. Holds a set shape through a working day without the helmet feel.
  • Supreme hold / super hold — for structured styles: an updo, a slicked back look, a shape you need to survive weather and hours of movement.
  • Extra strong hold — event territory. Weddings, long nights, humidity, hair that fights back. Use less than you think.
  • Very Volume — aimed at lift at the roots rather than locking the lengths, for fine hair that goes flat by midday.

Humidity is the reason Lebanese summers eat soft-hold sprays on the coast. If your style survives at home in the mountains but collapses in Beirut in August, that is not your technique — you are simply one hold level too low.

Which size to buy

The Elnett range runs in 200ml, 300ml and 400ml cans, and the size choice is genuinely practical rather than cosmetic:

  • 200ml — handbag, travel and salon-day size. Also the sensible size for trying a hold level you have not used before.
  • 300ml — mid-size, sensible for occasional home use.
  • 400ml — the one to buy if you spray daily. Cost per use is lower and you are not re-buying every few weeks.

Each product page lists the exact hold level and size — with hairspray those two details matter more than the name on the front.

How to use it so it does not look sprayed

  1. Distance is everything. Around 30 cm from the head. Close-range spraying is what makes hair crunchy and dull.
  2. Move while you spray. Short sweeps, not one long blast into a single spot.
  3. Spray under the layers for volume, over the top only for finish. Lifting a section and spraying the roots underneath gives lift without visible product on the surface.
  4. Let it dry before touching or brushing. Brushing wet hairspray breaks the style and the hair.
  5. Build in layers. Two light passes hold better and look softer than one heavy one.

Common questions

Does hairspray damage hair?

The spray itself is a surface film, not a chemical treatment. Damage comes from brushing it out roughly or leaving it in for days — wash it out at the end of the day and brush gently.

Can I use hairspray before a straightener?

No. Hairspray goes on after heat styling. Before the iron you want a heat protectant, not a hold product.

Which hold do I need for an updo?

Supreme or extra strong, applied in layers as you build the style, not only at the end.

Will strong hold leave white residue?

Usually it is over-application at close range rather than the product. Increase the distance and use less.
